Aurora KIRÁLY approaches the contemporary art field from different perspectives: as an artist, curator and cultural manager.
As of 2007 she has taught at the Department of Photography and Dynamic Image of the National University of Arts, Bucharest; an experience that has made her re-evaluate her artistic activity from the ’90s-2000 and come back with new projects. In her recent works she focuses on how artists relate to recent history/art history. Since 2001 she has been the director of Galeria Nouă. Between 2001-2008 she curated an important number of exhibitions and events at this exhibition space. In 2006 she coordinated the book “Photography in contemporary art. Trends in Romania after 1989”, published by Galeria Noua at Unarte Publishing House. Between 2007-2012 she coordinated Witnesses XXI – Revisiting the Past / A collection of video interviews with Romanian artists, art critics and curators from different generations. She lives and works in Bucharest. 2013 - Ph.D in Visual Arts, National University of Fine Arts from Bucharest with the thesis Photography in Romanian Contemporary Art, Coordinator: Professor Ruxandra Demetrescu.
