TIMELINE OF TRANSFORMATION
2025 Installation The project combines two series: ink drawings on semi-transparent fabric (A4 format) depicting early textile machines from the beginnings of industrialization. These are based on archival photographs from Mulhouse, where I had a residency in 2024. Since creating them, I’ve wanted to connect these historical references with a real, contemporary textile factory - although finding access and approval took some time. Fortunately, in 2025 I was was invited for a project in Reșița, Romania, a city that was once a major industrial center before the fall of communism. I that respect I documented the women work in a small garment factory. In the new photographs, the drawings are mounted on transparent plexiglass panels placed in the foreground, with the everyday reality of the |
factory visible behind them - women working at sewing machines or engaged in different stages of production. Alongside this, I continued developing also the Women at Work series, expanding the wallpaper patterns derived from documentary photographs taken in the same factory. Focusing on the choreography of the workers’ bodies, I created several patterns that are combined for exhibition display with close-up photographs of hands in motion, bodily gestures, and objects involved in the production process. These images are either layered onto or placed beside the wallpaper patterns, creating a dialogue between surface and action. |
